Which photo works best?
Not the best-looking one — the one with the most in it. Candid over posed, with the setting visible, and old over recent if you have any history together. Photographs taken by accident are very often the best in the folder. The one constraint that overrides everything: they have to like how they look in it.
How hard is the puzzle?
You can set the grid size. Aim for one to three minutes of effort — the goal is a moment of engagement, not a genuine challenge, and watching someone become frustrated ruins the effect entirely.
Can I use it to announce something?
It works particularly well for that. A puzzle buys you the thirty seconds where they work it out before you have to say it — useful for a proposal, a booked trip, or any news you would rather reveal than announce.
Does the photo need to be high quality?
